By applying skin care products in the most effective way,  a person can be sure of ensuring a proper skincare routine for dull skin, thus not wasting one’s money on expensive skincare.

A morning skincare routine needs to be based on the seasons and state of the skin. Also, the focus needs to be on the products being used.

As a quick rule of thumb, skin care products need to be applied lightly or even heavily.

Step 1: Cleanse with water only

In the morning hours, cleansing with water helps. Often, skin-conscious people prefer a full nighttime cleanse to remove makeup and dirt. This approach helps the skin look good.

If skeptical, try using a konjac sponge, which is a gentle exfoliating sponge made from the konjac root. The natural clays do help to naturally cleanse the skin without, again, stripping oil.

Step 2: Hydrosol (toner)

Following cleansing, use a hydrosol by adding it to water as a barrier to maintain healthy skin. This does help to act as a good foundation for all that is to come as a next option. Popular hydrosols do have small amounts of essential oils like lavender or rose, which are useful for helping the actives penetrate one’s skin.

Step 3: Serum and actives

Products that do contain an ingredient like salicylic acid meant to achieve a certain effect are considered “actives.” They tend to be “brightening” products or even “correctors.” These products, plus serums,  do work on certain issues, concerns, or even benefits for one’s skin.

A serum is indeed applied initially so that it seeps right into the skin. Applying my actives and also allowing them to sit for a few minutes prior to the next steps does help in sealing the other products.

Treatments (Optional)

This is indeed an optional step, depending on whether the person chooses to make use of treatments. This is the stage, for example, where a person will apply a spot treatment to help heal pimples or where applying for eye treatments is required (such as a serum, oil, or cream). Treatments are generally “spot-focused”.

The person has to allow the treatment to sit for a minute or two if doing spot treatment for pimples, in order not to spread the treatment over the entire face in the next step.

Step 4: Moisturize

Then move on to a moisturizer as a next step for better skin to overcome a dull skincare routine.

A beauty-conscious person can opt for heavy moisturizing with a face balm or heavy facial oil. Few rarely use creams, as their skin may react better to whole plant oil.

The oil can be added by patting it on the face and then massaging it into the skin with upward strokes. The user tends to take a few minutes on this process. This does help to work the product into one’s skin and feel pampered with a mini-facial massage.

If using a balm, warm it up in your hands to start with by rubbing it in between them, then getting it into a more oily consistency, and then continuing as mentioned above.

Step 5: Sun protection

The user needs to always apply sunscreen. Few use a non-nano mineral sunscreen. This is both environmentally friendly and also helps to protect the person from hyperpigmentation as well as other sun damage.

It is a good idea to pat this product onto the skin lightly.

Conclusion

While skin care products do vary from person to person, the order in which the person can use them can mean the difference between an effective routine and also throwing money down the drain. Skincare routines for dull skin do need to be given much importance to avoid the skin not glowing well.
